As the warmer weather returns, we're already seeing more activity around the Park and along the Ocean Grove coastline. Over winter, our team has been busy with maintenance, vegetation management and storm clean-up works following periods of strong winds.

As you return to enjoy weekends and holiday periods, now is a great time for a Spring clean around your site. We look forward to another fantastic season ahead.

Honouring John Wynn 

A Lifetime Dedicated to Wynndean and the Families Who Call It Their Piece of Paradise

For many guests, Wynndean is more than a caravan park. It is a place of family traditions, lifelong friendships and treasured memories that span generations. Much of what Wynndean represents today is due to the vision, dedication and leadership of John.

Alongside his wife Janice and family, John devoted decades to growing Wynndean while preserving the values that have always made it special: community, hospitality, respect for nature and genuine care for people. Under his leadership, Wynndean became far more than a family business. It became a place where generations of families returned year after year to create memories together.

John held a deep appreciation for the history of Wynndean and the many people who contributed to its story. He often acknowledged the post-war migrant families who helped build the Park, along with the countless guests whose loyalty and friendship shaped Wynndean over the decades. To John, guests were never simply customers; they became part of the Wynndean family.

Beyond Wynndean, John was a highly respected figure within Victoria's caravan park industry. He served as President of the industry association from 1971 to 1973 and was recognised as an Industry Legend in 2009 for his lifelong contribution to caravan parks and tourism. His commitment extended to community organisations, tourism bodies, the CFA and to advocating for the future of family-owned caravan parks throughout Victoria.

The values John lived by, integrity, service, community and kindness, continue to guide Wynndean today. His passion for creating a safe, welcoming and family-focused environment remains at the heart of everything we do. As the fourth generation continues the Wynndean story, his legacy lives on in every family gathering, every friendship formed and every memory created within the Park.

We thank John for his extraordinary contribution to Wynndean and to the wider caravan park community. His influence will continue to be felt by generations of Wynndean families for many years to come.

Around the Park

🔌Power Outages

Approximately 90% of Wynndean sites are individually metered and Wynndean does not receive outage notifications for individual sites. You can register for notifications from your supplier Powercor here. As a reminder, we strongly recommend turning off both power and water when leaving.

🔥CFA Regulations

A reminder that the CFA Regulations require three sides of every site to have 1-2 meters of clear access at all times. This allows CFA crews wearing full firefighting equipment to safely access around your site during an emergency and is a mandatory requirement across all caravan parks.

To help us meet these requirements, please store bikes, surfboards and other recreational equipment inside your annexe or van when not in use and keep access areas free from stored items and rubbish.

CFA will soon be declaring when the fire season commences.

From the Outdoor Team

🌿Trimming

Our annual vegetation maintenance program will commence following the September school holidays.

Please remember to store away fairy lights, windcatchers, clotheslines and other loose items before work begins. Trimming and pruning are essential for guest safety and compliance with CFA and Caravan Park Regulations 2024.

🌱Buffallo Turf

Able to be rolled out any time of the year. Our team are happy to assist in watering to establish your turf. Shade & salt tolerant, hard wearing and suitable for caravan park use. Can be purchased locally through Anco Turf or many of the major hardwares.

Artificial/Synthetic Varieties

“Real” grass/turf is our preference and better for our environment by giving water to our soil & trees. Artificial/synthetic matting can be used in small quantities for the 2026/27 season. Currently it can be rolled out from Melbourne Cup weekend and must be stored on-site after the Easter Holidays; neatly and not inhibiting CFA Regulations including access and separations. Please consider our environment before purchasing as it can be problematic in lifting, storing and disposing of.

Paving

Paving is another option for landscaping your site. This can alleviate the need for synthetics and watering turf. Small quantities may be applied for through the office and our outdoor staff. Local contractors include Saltwater Property Solutions.

☂️Gazebos, Awnings & Shade Structures

Warmer weather means more outdoor living, but coastal winds can change quickly.

Please remember: Temporary Awnings, Gazebos, Sunshades and Umbrellas must be removed and stored inside when the dwelling is unoccupied and/or when warnings are received.

Structures should not be tied to trees and must be positioned at least 500mm from roads and pathways to allow clear vehicle and pedestrian movement in the park. 

🚗Safe Storage and Parking

With Daylight Saving approaching and visitor numbers increasing, please ensure all personal items are stored safely within your site. A reminder that vehicles must be parked only in your designated parking area. If you're unsure where this is, please contact the Office.

🛠️Trades

During all holiday periods only emergency trade access is permitted. The deadline for 2026 trades is December 1. 

♻️Recycling & Waste Management

Planning a Spring clean?

Wynndean is happy to assist with collection of larger recyclable items including BBQs, fridges, bikes and surfboards.

A few recycling reminders:

• Coffee cups, milk cartons, oily pizza Boxes cannot be recycled → Landfill (Dark Green bin)

Please do not leave items beside the bin stations. Larger recyclable items can be collected directly from your site by arrangement with the Office: Hard Rubbish Collection Request — Wynndean

🌳Vegetation Overlays

As you may be aware, Wynndean is governed by several vegetation overlays that control activities within the Park including tree trimming and use of paving and concrete. While all of the vegetation within the Park has been planted and nurtured by our family and team for over 80 years, we must adhere to the following in accordance to the overlays:

• Trees must not be trimmed, lopped or removed except in accordance with our approved Vegetation Management Plan

• Storm water (surface water) must be retained on site. This can only be achieved by restricting hard surface coverage (structures/pavers artificial grass etc), and providing strategic soakage pits. We do not have gutters along the roadsides to allow the water to runoff to the sides.

The whole area of Wynndean is sand that in places is over 11mt deep above the bedrock. The water table in areas is less than 6 ft below the surface. The trees in the area depend on this water table and the threat to the water table of recent Council works (New roads and gutters that take all surface water away to the River and Ocean) has already left a legacy of lost trees.

We all value our trees as part of the physical environment of Wynndean, (you may notice many trees around the Park are propped rather than removed) and although the last couple of years has provided above average rainfall, we know that there are dry years ahead. If the vegetation is to survive then we must be pro-active and ensure sufficient permeable surface throughout the Park to maintain the surface water that is the lifeblood of many of the trees. Likewise, these trees provide shelter for our guests and habitat for native birds and animals. Who has experienced being woken to the sound of a possum running across their roof!?

So with this information in mind, we kindly remind you to discuss any vegetation queries you have with us.

Wynndean provides gas delivery, connection and testing services for in-date bottles.

To arrange a replacement, simply contact the Office during business hours or complete and online request.

🧯Smoke Alarms

Please check that your van contains:

• A working smoke alarm

• A fire extinguisher

• A fire blanket

These items are available for purchase from the Office if required.

💡Light the Lighthouse Blue (SEA-TEMBER)

Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale's iconic lighthouses will be illuminated blue from 24-26 September as part of the SEA-TEMBER celebrations. The event includes live music, maritime heritage displays, lighthouse tours and community activities celebrating the region's connection to the sea.

🧺Ocean Grove Market

Held on the first Sunday of each month from October to April, featuring local produce, plants, handmade goods and delicious food.

🍎Bellarine Farmers' Market

Held on the third Saturday of each month at Ocean Grove Park, showcasing fresh local produce and artisan foods from around the Bellarine.

🍷Toast to the Coast - Bellarine Wine Festival

The Bellarine's annual wine festival returns over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, with cellar doors, food, wine and live music across the Peninsula.

Arguably the oldest Fun Run in Australia REGISTRATION opens in OCTOBER for the Annual OGSLSC Rip to River 10km Classic - Monday 28th December - Registration is on line - Get in quickly before limits are reached.

What’s NEW on the Bellarine!

🌿Take a visit to Murrk Ngubitl Yarram Yaluk in Wallington, one of the Bellarine's newest conservation areas. With walking trails, wetlands and native grasslands, it's a great opportunity to experience the region's natural beauty and spot local birdlife and wildlife.

🚴The new Ocean Grove District Ride Centre at Kingston Park officially opened in August and has quickly become one of the Bellarine's most exciting family recreation facilities. The $3.5 million centre features jump lines for riders of all skill levels, an asphalt pump track, spectator areas and facilities designed for BMX, mountain bikes and scooters.

Suitable for beginners through to experienced riders, the ride centre was developed with significant input from local young people and the Ocean Grove community
